The launching ceremony of the first freight train for exports in Zhangjiajie City was held at a cargo yard of the Zhangjiajie Railway Logistics Park on April 23, 2025. This marks a crucial step in Zhangjiajie's comprehensive integration into the national Belt and Road Initiative and in facilitating a smoother international logistics land-sea corridor.

In recent years, Zhangjiajie City has vigorously advanced the "road-to-rail" strategy and policies to reduce logistics costs and increase efficiency, resulting in significant growth in freight train service. In 2024, the city's rail freight volume increased 201 times year on year, exceeding nearly 10 times of the provincial target. The rail freight fare was down by 50%. In the first quarter of 2025, both the freight train trips and the transportation revenue of the Zhangjiajie rail freight service section increased more than 50% year on year. The single-day loading volume exceeded 200 carriages, hitting a record high.

The special train has innovatively adopted the "road-rail-sea" intermodal transport service. It will arrive at Yantian Port of Shenzhen City through the Shimen-Changsha Railway and finally reach Malaysia and Indonesia. This mode breaks the previous dependence on road transport or the limitations of transshipment in other ports, optimizes the logistics path, and reduces transportation and time costs for enterprises. It will inject new momentum into the development of international markets for local specialty agricultural products, new materials, and tourist commodities.

In the future, Zhangjiajie City will continue to expand opening up and collaboration, deepen interconnection with domestic and foreign markets, and promote more Zhangjiajie products to the world.
