Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Festival, is a great time for spring outing. With a history spanning over 2500 years, it’s one of China's oldest traditional festivals. It originated from the Cold Food Festival to honor Jie Zitui, a loyal minister sacrificing himself for his ruler.
Today, in the Festival, Chinese always pay respects to their ancestors. They visit graves to clean tombstones and offer flowers, thus expressing remembrance and reverence for the departed.
It is not just a traditional festival but also a solar term. As nature revives, diverse spring activities, like kite-flying, spring outings, and tree-planting , can evoke a sense of vitality and hope among people.
Its unique blend of culture and nature makes Qingming Festival a bridge between generations. It teaches us to cherish the present and embrace the future while honoring our ancestors.
